Installing Doppler
First, if you haven't done so already, download Doppler. Doppler requires version 1.1 of the Microsoft .NET framework, so if you don't have it already, you'll receive an error message telling you as much when you try to install Doppler. You can download the .NET framework and install it manually, or just go to Windows Update, choose Custom install instead of Express, and install it from there.
Now, we can get into the nitty-gritty of installing Doppler. First, extract the archive you downloaded. There should be just one file inside the archive, "Doppler Setup.msi". Double-click the file to start the installation process.

This is just an introductory screen. Go ahead and click "Next".

This screen just lists some of Doppler's features. You can read through them if you like, or just go ahead and click "Next".

Now, we have the Software License Agreement. Take a moment to scan through it. Nothing really ground-breaking; just a standard license agreement. Make sure "I Agree" is checked, then go ahead and click "Next".

This screen asks where you would like to install Doppler. The default installation directory should be fine, but if you want to install it some place else, click the "Browse" button. You'll also notice two radio buttons with the labels, "Everyone" and "Just me". If you're the only one who uses your computer, it makes no difference which you choose. If you have multiple people that use your computer (other family members, for example), choose "Everyone" to allow them to use Doppler, or stay with "Just me", if you want it to be only available to you. Then, click "Next".

Here, you're given one last chance to back out before Doppler is installed. Go ahead and click "Next" to continue the installation. Doppler will begin installing, and you'll see a progress bar indicating how far along the installation process is. When Doppler has finished installing, you'll be prompted with the following popup box:

You're asked where you would like to store the downloaded audio of your podcasts. I simply created a folder called "My Podcasts" in the "My Documents" folder, but you can place it wherever you like. Click "Continue" when you're ready.

Another popup box. This time, you're asked which media player you would like to use. For the purposes of this tutorial, we're going to choose Windows Media Player, so make sure Windows Media Player is selected and click "Continue".

Doppler is now installed and ready to run. Click "Close" to finish the installation and proceed to the next part of this tutorial, "Adding a Podcast in Doppler".
