New Life Church, a Kingwood, Texas Assembly of God Church

From Podcast to Portable Device Using Doppler and Windows Media Player

Adding a Podcast in Doppler

Now, that we have installed Doppler, let's give it a run. During install, Doppler should have placed a shortcut icon on your Desktop, or you can run it through the Start Menu (Start->All Programs->Doppler->Doppler).

Doppler Main Window (w/o Podcasts)

This is the main window of Doppler. It's the first thing you should see when the program runs. The user interface is pretty straight-forward. The center section of the window is where podcast feeds you have subscribed to will be displayed. At the bottom of the window, there are two buttons, "Add feed" and "Retrieve now". The "Add feed" button is for--you guessed it--adding podcast feeds. The "Retrieve now" button is used for updating your podcast feeds. So, let's start by adding a podcast feed.

Doppler Popup for Adding a New Podcast Feed

When you click on the "Add feed" button, this window will popup. The only thing you need to concern yourself with is the URL field. For the New Life Church Sermon Godcast, the url is http://www.nlcweb.net/resources/sermons/podcast/. The other fields will be filled in with data contained in the podcast. After you've entered the URL, click "Add feed".

Doppler Main Window (with New Life Church Sermon Godcast)

Now, we're back to Doppler's main window, and the New Life Church Sermon Godcast should now be listed. Select the New Life Church Sermon Godcast and click the "Retrieve now" button.

Doppler will now begin downloading the MP3 files that are attached to the podcast. When it finishes, a new playlist will be instantly added for us in Windows Media Player. So, once Doppler's done doing it's thing, let's have Windows Media Player join the party.
