A Blog, A Blog, My Kingdom for a Blog

I’ve been meaning to get around to adding some helpful info to this blog, rather than just boring old site updates. So, in honor of the first of many of these little blasts, I thought I’d provide some guidance in setting up your own blog.

First things first, you need a home for your blog. If you already have a web host, you’re ready to go. If you don’t yet have a hosting account, I highly recommend you get one. There’s many free hosting providers out there; you can search for one through our site. Alternatively you can use a service like Google’s Blogger, which will host your blog for free. If you get a host , make sure you find one with PHP and MySQL capabilities.

Ok, now it’s time to get you blog up and running. If you have a host with PHP and MySQL capabilities, I recommend using WordPress as your blog software. It’s free, relatively easy to use, and reliable. If your host is not PHP and MySQL capable, try out Google’s Blogger, you can set it up to post via FTP to your host, so the files stay on your server, but Blogger handles the processing.

Why do you need a blog? Blogs are fun. They are an easy way to create community, share ideas, and express opinions. Plus, search engines love blogs. So what are you waiting for? Go. Post something.

That’s it for now. Happy blogging.
