Overwhelming

< Back to Pastor Gary’s Blog

What a wonderful God we serve! His greatness, his majesty, and his glory; combined with all that he has done for you through his only Son, Jesus Christ leads to our word for the week, overwhelming. Everything God has done through Jesus Christ was done for you and when you contemplate this, it is overwhelming. Let me give you a few verses this morning that emphasize the overwhelming goodness of God.

Ephesians 1:7 “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.”

Ephesians 2:4-10 “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

When you understand who you are without Jesus, it is overwhelming to think that God loves you even while you are a sinner, one who is hostile toward God, one who might shake your fist in God’s face and curse him. Yet, he still has a great love for you and because of the abundance of his rich mercy he graciously reaches out to you today because of the shed blood of his Son Jesus. If you will accept God’s great sacrifice of love for you, God will raise you up in Christ to a new life. That’s overwhelming!

God is overwhelming,
Pastor Gary
