Rich Little?
I always loved to watch Rich Little on television. Do you remember him? You do not see him around very often these days, like all of us he is getting older. Rich Little was one of the best impersonators I have ever seen. He could imitate almost any famous person quite well.
Did you know that God wants you to be an impersonator? In Ephesians 5:1 Paul wrote, “…be imitators of God, as beloved children.” The Greek word that is translated “imitators” in that passage is the word from which we get our word mimic. However, Paul’s use of the word goes beyond our concept of mimicking or impersonating someone. It actually speaks of representing the character of God. Thus, to be an imitator of God is to be someone who displays God’s character and actions.
In order to display the character and actions of God accurately, we must immerse ourselves in God’s Word. Daily reading and study of God’s Word will help us to learn of his ways. Each day we find ourselves in situations that instantly call for us to act or react. Someone cuts you off on the freeway, someone makes you angry at work, or someone treats you unfairly. These are the prime opportunities to display the character and actions of God. So, this week keep in mind that we are to imitate God. Let us all do the best “Rich Little” that we can!
God bless,
Pastor Gary
