Constant Change?
I recently read, “The only constant is change.” At first glance that statement seems to be true. Business and management strategies today suggest that things are changing so rapidly that if your organization is not changing faster it might fail! Technology brings information and knowledge to everyone at such a rapid rate that things and people are changing. I guess part of the challenge is maintaining your sanity in the midst of constant change. However, the implication of the statement is that everything and everyone changes, and biblically this is not true.
Malachi 3:6 says, “I am the Lord, I change not….” Furthermore, Hebrews 13:8 declares “Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever.” These are certainly words of comfort to us in the 21st century. Living with the assurance that God remains the same and never changes means that we can know what God would say concerning matters and how God will respond to situations that arise. By reading God’s Word you can discover God’s character, understand God’s ways, and grasp God’s principles for living that provide a framework for life. In addition, knowing that God’s love is unwavering gives us the assurance that no matter what happens or no matter how bad we might “blow it” God, our loving Father still loves us.
Will things change? Will people change? Certainly. Will God change? Never. The only constant is God. Praise God, he is unchanging!
God bless you,
Pastor Gary
