Heavenly Minded

Good Morning Saints of God!

There is an expression, “That person is so heavenly minded they’re no earthly good.” I think I understand the jest of the expression; however, I wander if statement is valid.

As believers in Jesus Christ, we are, in Paul’s words “in Christ.” Acts 17:28 says, “For in him (Jesus) we live and move and have our being.” Everything that we are and everything that we need and everything that we hope to become is in the person of Jesus Christ. How often do we go about our day without giving the Lord a second thought? How many times have we made important decisions at home or at work without asking the Lord for wisdom? How often do we miss opportunities to show the world the real Jesus?

A relationship with Jesus is not a Sunday only exercise! A relationship with Jesus is a life! However, it is more than a life it is an abundant life! It is a life offering opportunity to be blessed and to be a blessing. Think about all that Jesus did while he was walking on earth. Think about his touching people of all ages and serving them and showing them the Father. Now, today, you are “in Christ.” You are the living expression of Jesus in the world. The people you meet each day are God-given opportunities to share kindness, love, compassion, and healing.

Therefore, we should live each day with our mind focusing on Jesus who is our life. I believe doing this will open our eyes to new ways to serve the Lord, new ways to minister grace to others, and new ways to make a difference in the lives of those we are in contact with throughout the day.

Therefore, in my opinion the expression mentioned above in invalid. I think the true statement is, “To be any earthly good, you must be heavenly minded.”

God bless you as you serve him!
