Misplaced Passion
Two words come to my mind this morning as I pray. Those words are “misplaced passion.” It is so easy to misplace passion. The passion that we have for the Lord Jesus is often set aside because of life itself. It isn’t that you don’t love the Lord. It isn’t that you don’t want to walk with him. It is just that life many times demands your attention. The demands of the family, of church, or of work can often crowd out our devotional life.
Reading the Bible becomes a rare event and consistent prayer time is lacking. The absence of our means of communication with the Lord (Bible reading and prayer) are like throwing water on a fire. Without these key elements the burning passion for Christ will soon die and the next thing you know you will be wondering where you misplaced your passion for Christ.
As easy as it is to misplace your passion, it is just as easy to find it once again. How? You know the answer. First, pick up your Bible. Start reading it consistently. Each day go back to God’s Word for your daily bread. Second, establish or re-establish your consistent time of prayer. Make your appointment with the Lord and keep it.
Soon, you will find your passion growing once again. That is a promise from God’s Word. “Draw near to God and he will draw near to you” (James 4:6). Have you misplaced your passion recently? I think you can find it once again, if you try.
God bless you,
Pastor Gary
